This painting began with two very atrocious colors, then I did some line work on the canvas thinking it would save the monstrosity. It did not, so I began again with a white gesso wash over the whole thing which turned into a nice yellowish, bluish, greenish. To make sure the black wouldn't smear into the new paint, I did a coat of glazing liquid; then began drawing succulents and tiny, soft creamy flowers that I had seen in Hawaii. I used mostly greens on this and some crimson. I like the softness of it and the feeling that's there's lots of underneath foliage with the still star flowers on the top.
